President:  Steven Canales,  scanales@armadillohomes.com

        Steve is the Vice President of Operations at Armadillo Homes. He is also the Education Committee Chairperson for the LBA. 

        Steve has a solid background in the homebuilding industry. He earned a degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He started his professional career in Houston where he worked for a national home builder for nine years. 

        Steve learned all the facets of the homebuilding industry as a Builder, Sales Manager and Area Construction Manager. 

 

President-Elect:  Paul Poteet,   ppoteet@startechconstruction.com

          Paul is the Construction Manager of Startech Construction.  He has been in the industry for 23 years and was with a top 20 National Builder for 12 years prior to Startech Construction.  He has learned the business from the ground up as a framer, trim carpenter, plumber, Construction Manager, Sales Consultant, Project Manager, Sales/Marketing Manager, and Division President. 

          He is head of the Parade of Homes 2008 committee and is very active in planning and volunteering with all LBA events.  Paul is also involved in several community organized events.  He is the President of the Laredo Life Center, Laredo’s newest crisis pregnancy center, whose mission is to save the lives of those in need of a blessing.

           Paul is happily married to Rhonda, with whom he has six beautiful children.  Paul and his family attend First Baptist Church in Laredo where he teaches Sunday school and is actively involved on the building committee.

 

1st Vice-President: Orlando Navarro,  onavarro@bpnic.com

    Orlando is the Real Estate Administrator for B. P. Newman Investments and he has been with the company since 2004.  He also currently serves as the Planning & Zoning Chairperson.  He has served on the P & Z since 2002.

     Orlando graduated from St. Augustine High in 1985 and from TAMIU in 1994 with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing.

     Orlando serves as the Land Development Committee Chairperson of the LBA, a board member of the Border Olympics and is also the President of the TAMIU Alumni Association.

     He is married to Kathy Hagy Navarro and has three daughters.

2nd Vice-President:  Pat Murphy, San Isidro Management, pmurphy@sanisidrotx.com

          Pat is Head of Real Estate Development for San Isidro Management L.C. and has been in that position since 2007. Prior to that he was Sr VP of an independent bank, in commercial lending for 23 years.

       Pat is a 1983 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Business Management and a 1979 graduate of George West High School.

 

Secretary: Starr Zolton, builders@netscorp.net

     An LBA member since 2000, Starr is the operations manager of 1st Builders.  She works on the Parade of Homes and Public Relations committees.

     Starr moved to Laredo from Maine with her husband Ken in 1984.  She works with several civic organizations including Women's City Club, LCC Tech Prep Program and Congregation Agudas Achim.  Starr and Ken have one daughter, Rebecca Joy.

 

Treasurer: Eddie Villarreal, eev10@hotmail.com

     An LBA member since 1997, Eddie is the President of Tex-Mex Credit Union.  He is presently involved with the Parade and Budgeting committees.

     Eddie graduated from Texas A & M International University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  He is married and has 4 children.
